In these classes, we’re not aiming to make nice pictures for the wall, although that does happen along the way! Instead, we’ll be guided by the idea that art-making is a place to explore, where children express themselves while learning to use techniques and materials.
We'll focus on one theme over 4 weeks, exploring different techniques and approaches each week. Children use a wide variety of good quality materials including watercolour, acrylic, collage, oil pastels and pencils.
Children are very intuitive and their unedited ability to make art is a huge inspiration to me. The classes are based around getting children to channel that intuition and create freely. To achieve this I might play a game with them by calling out vague instructions.
Making art together in small groups has a lovely energy and dynamic, allowing children to do new and unexpected things.

"Our 6 year old has been going to Michelle's for 2 terms now and absolutely loves the sessions. Michelle is a talented teacher and helps the kids to use a variety of different techniques, media and materials. The kids are engaged and enthusiastic, our daughter is always so proud to show us what she has created at the end of the session, and some of it has already been framed and hangs on the living room wall! Highly recommend!!" Caroline
