This series of paintings tells a love story. A girl meets a boy one night in an English bar, sparks flew, love blossomed and they later got married in Chatsworth House. Their journey continued to America, where they made a beautiful home together and started a family.
The bar in question no longer exists, but the building does. So between Google Streetview, an old photo of the bar signage taken from an odd angle at night, and a fuzzy photo of the couple on the night they met, we were able to piece the scene together.
A building can mean a lot to us. We may have been in it one night, one day or years. Either way, if something special has happened there, we'll treasure it for all time.
