What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make. Jane Goodall
International Women's Day is a day of recognition and celebration of women globally, recognising the value that women bring to communities and the world. I was amazed to discover the the first 'National Woman's Day' was recorded in New York in 1909! A lot has happened since then, we can be proud of our great grandmothers who began paving the way for the freedoms we have now.Today, I would like to celebrate Jane Goodall, a primatologist and anthropologist. Jane's work redefined the way we think about our relationship between humans and animals, and shaped the world of conservation that we know today. One scientific convention she flipped on its head, was giving primates a name instead of a number, understanding them as individuals with personalities, emotions and long-term bonds. She paved the way for women in a male dominated area of study, so that women are now the leading world experts in long-term primate behaviour studies.
You can find out more about her here.
